K-Pop megaband BTS cancels North America tour over coronavirus outbreak

Global phenomenon BTS have announced they are postponing the North American leg of their upcoming Map Of The Soul Tour amid the current coronavirus pandemic.

The superstars had been scheduled to kick off their tour on April 25th in California before wrapping up in Chicago on June 6th.

However, their record label has released a statement which will have broken the hearts of their millions of fans.

Big Hit Entertainment announced the news via the app Weverse, which BTS frequently use to keep in touch with their millions of fans.

The statement read: “We would like to inform you that there will be some adjustments to the upcoming BTS MAP OF THE SOUL TOUR- NORTH AMERICA schedule in order to make sure that we put the safety of everyone involved first and foremost,”

All purchased tickets for the North American leg of the Map Of The Soul tour will be honoured for the new dates, Big Hit added.

Their recent album instantly shot to the top of the Billboard charts.

BTS have also recently announced that they will be launching a web series to help their army of fans learn Korean.

They’re set to host 30 lessons on the app Weverse, with a spokesperson for the group adding that each lesson is “designed to make it easy and fun for global fans who have difficulty enjoying BTS’ music and contents due to the language barrier.

The New York Times reported yesterday that at least 81,321 people are known to have been infected with coronavirus in the US, more than anywhere in the world.
