GMB viewers baffled as couple go on 'intense digital 11 hour dates'

Good Morning Britain viewers were left lost for words after a kooky segment of Friday’s show focused on fledgling couple Yasmin and Emma who have been on virtual dates after lockdown ruined their chance to meet up in person.

The duo met up online after Yasmin slid into Emma’s direct messages on social media.

Emma lives in Birmingham while Yasmin is miles away in Worcester.

The girls had planned to meet up on a date however, the government’s coronavirus lockdown meant they were forced their plans.

Revealing how they have been digitally joined at the hip over the past couple of weeks, Yasmin replied: “Yes, our record is 11 and a half hours on FaceTime.”

As GMB host Ben Shepherd looked baffled, she quickly added: “We have been watching Killing Eve together.

“We have been for a couple of breakfasts and the other night and we had a take away together.”

Explaining how she thinks the lockdown has meant they have been able to get to know each other better.

Yasmin continued: “With Tinder or something like that you just swipe if you think the the person is cute.

“With us only being able to talk to each other has helped to ensure we have the personalities that are compatible.”

But while the girls may be happy with their digital love for now, many viewers couldn’t et their heads around the idea.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Over 11 hours on FaceTime to someone you’ve never met?

“I don’t speak to the wife for that long.”

Another added: “Love in lockdown? No thanks.#GMB”

“If only some of my past relationships had stayed inside a 10” screen,” a third mocked.

Impressed with the idea, GMB host Ranvir Singh said: “The thing is think we are thinking everything has to stop but that story says it doesn’t.

“There are ways to have some sense of normality even with this crazy situation going on.”
