BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty scolds Charlie Stayt for interview question

BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty was left stunned by Charlie Stayt’s accidentally savage question during an interview this morning.

The pair were speaking to CBBC and Strictly Come Dancing star Karim Zeroual about BBC’s Bitesize education help for parents now home-schooling their children during the coronavirus pandemic.

Karim admitted the programme had been a great help to his younger relatives, before Charlie asked: “Do they listen to a word you say, are you any use whatsoever?”

Before the presenter could respond, Naga was heard scolding her colleague, saying: “Charlie!”

Despite Naga’s shock, Karim admitted he was “definitely not” any use and was more the “fun uncle”.

But her surprise at the question continued when the cameras turned back to the studio.

“I can’t believe you asked our guest if they were any use whatsoever,” she said.

“How would you like being asked that?”

Charlie replied: “Well I know I’m not [any use], in that circumstance I definitely would not be.”

The pair continued to joke about the comical moment when they turned to Matt Taylor for the weather.

“Here’s someone that knows there stuff normally, here’s Matt,” Charlie said.

Naga quickly interjected: “Do you know Matt, I thought he was going to say if you are any use, ever.”

It is not the only comical moment from the daily show recently.

Last week, Naga jokingly walked off following after weather presenter Carol Kirkwood made a joke about forgetting her name.

The presenter was previously left-faced when asked live on-air if she had “slept with Prince” who had got his bodyguards to ask her to dance while in a nightclub.

The 45-year-old, from Streatham, south London, met the late musician while she was still a student at university and declined to answer the cheeky question.
