Killing Eve star Jodie Comer calls for Liverpudlian soap Brookside to be revived

Killing Eve star Jodie Comer wants Brookside to be revived.

The actress claims she had her happiest times as a youngster watching the Liverpool-based soap.

Jodie said: “My earliest memory of television is Brookside. I used to get in the shower, wash my hair and sit in front of the fire with my nan and watch Brookside – and eat spearmints.

“I wish I could watch Brookside now. They need to make a comeback.”

It’s probably no surprise that Jodie – who plays bisexual assassin Villanelle in BBC drama Killing Eve – is a fan.

The hard-hitting Channel 4 soap is famous for having TV’s first pre-watershed lesbian kiss and the grisly body-under-the-patio storyline.

It was created by Phil Redmond and helped launch the careers of Sue Johnston and Ricky Tomlinson.

Killing Eve’s third series, co-starring Sandra Oh, launches on BBC iPlayer on April 13.

It will be available to stream in the UK on iPlayer from 6am, after airing at 9pm local time in the US on Sunday 12 April on BBC America and AMC.

The start date was brought forward by two weeks due to coronavirus, as more people will be at home for the virus lockdown.

A third person tweeted: “I am buzzzzzin for Killing Eve season 3,” while a fourth said: “there’s only 15 days untill killing eve season 3 is out YES OMG (sic).”
