John Lennon’s son Sean has begged Twitter followers to stop quoting Imagine lyrics to him in every message.
Sean, 44, said he did not need reminding of the lyrics to the 1971 classic which is widely ranked one of the greatest songs of all time.
John’s son has regularly performed with the reformed Plastic Ono Band over the last decade.
Sean, who is himself a record producer, messaged: “Although delightful, please know it is not necessary to quote the lyrics of Imagine to me as a response to every tweet I make.
“It may come as a shock to you but I am familiar with both the music and the lyrics of this tune. Thank you.’’
His half-brother Julian, 56, also a musician and inspiration for Beatles hit Hey Jude, replied: “I believe I said something similar the other day!’’
The pair are plagued with people constantly referencing the song’s lyrics.

Released in Britain in 1975 it originally only reached No 6 in the singles chart only reaching the top after John’s murder in 1980 aged 40.
It went on to sell 1.6 million copies in the UK, was named by Guinness World Records as the second best single of in history and ranked No3 in Rolling Stone magazine’s The 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time.
Sean, who was born on his dad’s 35th birthday, made his musical debut at five when he recited a story on his mum’s 1981 album Season Of Glass.
He went on to produce a number of albums of his own and stage exhibitions of his photography.
