Harry Potter star Rupert Grint's girlfriend pregnant with his first child

Rupert Grint is expecting his first child with girlfriend Georgia Groome.

The actor, best known for playing Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise, shared the news this evening.

A representative for the couple said: “Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are excited to announce they are expecting a baby and would please ask for privacy at this time.”

Rupert, 31, and actress Georgia, 28, have been together since 2011.

Last year, Rupert and Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging star Georgia sparked marriage rumours when they were spotted wearing what looked to be matching wedding rings.

They left fans convinced they’d tied the knot after they were pictured wearing their new jewellery, but a spokesman denied they’d married.

Rupert shot to worldwide fame after starring in Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone in 2001 as Ron, Harry’s loyal but accident-prone best friend.

He played the role in all eight films.

However, Rupert has only ever watched the first movie once since it premiered in 2001.

The actor said: “I did see Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone not long ago, for the first time since the premiere, and I actually enjoyed looking back.

“But the more recent ones I definitely couldn’t do. I could probably go up to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.”

Rupert was back in the spotlight in November 2019 after saying there were sparks between his Harry Potter co-stars Emma Watson, 29, and Tom Felton, 32.

“There was always something,”Rupert told Entertainment Tonight.

“There was a little bit of a spark.”

“Unfortunately they were just too young to really act on anything serious.

“But we were kids. It was like any kind of playground romance,” he added.

Rupert’s TV show credits include Sky One comedy Sick Note, crime drama Snatch and Agatha Christie adaption The ABC Murders.

Georgia is best known for her roles in 2006 crime drama London To Brighton and 2008 romantic comedy Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging.
