Emmerdale and Holby City star Gemma Oaten has taken to Twitter to hit out at thieves who burgled her ‘high risk’ parents’ garage in Kingston upon Hull during the coronavirus pandemic.
Like most who are deemed high risk, Dennis and Marg Oaten had kitted out their garage with extra food supplies and essentials, this to keep trips to the supermarket to a minimum, as per government advice.
Officials have warned that those who are deemed high risk must only leave their homes for very limited purposes, this to ensure they any avoid contact with the deadly virus.
As we’ve seen in recent statistics, the consequences for those with underlining health issues, over the age of 70 or pregnant, can often be devastating, it is vital that people in these categories have all that they need at this time.

The British actress was devastated over the incident and took to her official Twitter account to vent her fury.
She said: “So my parents, who are high risk, were burgled yesterday, food and essentials gone. Makes my blood boil.
“However us Oatens always bounce back.”
The 35-year-old who is currently social distancing and cannot even visit her parents house vowed to “catch them” when she is eventually allowed home.

Speaking to fans on social media, she added: “When I’m next home I’m camping out to catch them, seriously though…please be kind. PLEASE think of the bigger picture, stay safe.”
Kind comments flooded in, with many kind local people offering collaborative support to Gemma and her parents, along with gestures of food and essentials so that they were not at a loss.
Gemma, who is better known for her role on Emmerdale as Rachel Breckle and now devotes a lot of time to charity work, later had to defend her post.
One keyboard warrior felt the need to quiz the actress on how Dennis and Marg could be burgled during self-isolation.

The online critic asked: “How the hell do you get burgled if you are at home? Makes no sense unless you’re totally deaf.”
Lashing out at the recipient, Gemma penned: “Well aren’t you a treat. It was our garage. Please do go ask my dad who has cancer and mum who can barely walk how exactly the incident happened if you feel you need.”
Gemma later shared that the police had been engaged but it seemed the criminals didn’t appear to be amateurs.
She added: “They know what they’re doing. We had all the security updated last time. Police said they know exactly what they’re doing.
“Left my folks with over hundreds of pounds worth of damage… which no one has right now.”
