Rapper Gucci Mane slammed for praying 'haters die of coronavirus'

Gucci Mane has faced a furious backlash after he took to Twitter to wish death on his “haters”.

The Alabama-born star tweeted the controversial message as his 8.4 million followers enjoyed the Easter Sunday holiday.

Gucci, 40, whose real name is Radric Delantic Davis, wrote: “I pray my haters die of coronavirus,” alongside an emoji of a person wearing a mask.

The post which has since been ‘liked’ over 61,600 times instantly caused backlash for the dad-of-one, with many taking to the replies section to slam the message.

American MMA star Gerald Harris replied: “Man you need some online church services and a hug. This is the worst timed tweet ever. There are people actually mourning the loss of loved ones now, due to the virus. Bad move big homie…”

Gerald later tweeted that Gucci Mane had blocked him on Twitter.

One fan replied: “Wow, very very immature and uncalled for.”

While a second went on to pen: “Not the ‘BEST’ thing to tweet at this moment in time whilst the world is going through the virus it’s self which is killing hundreds and thousands of people worldwide! [sic]”

The death toll from coronavirus across the globe is said to be around 113,000.

However, this isn’t the first time Gucci has come under fire for his use of social media.

In September 2013, he sent a string of tweets to various hip-hop artists, claiming to have had sexual relationships with the girlfriends of various rappers.

Days later he denied the tweets claiming his account had been hacked – later admitting in his autobiography that he had, in fact, tweeted the messages.

Gucci was convicted of possession of a firearm in 2014 and was released from prison in May 2016.

He married model Keyshia Ka’oir in October 2017, with the ceremony being broadcast in a 10-episode TV series.
