Zach Braff leads tributes to Scrubs co-star Sam Lloyd after actor dies aged 56

Zach Braff has paid his respects to Scrubs co-star Sam Lloyd who sadly passed away from an inoperable brain tumour, at the age of 56.

The 45-year-old penned an emotional tribute to the actor, who played loveable hospital lawyer Ted Buckland on the American series, saying he “could have not been a kinder man”.

News of his death was confirmed on Friday evening, and came after he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in January last year.

Sharing a snap of Sam on his Instagram page, Zach, who played John “JD” Dorian on the show, wrote: “Rest in peace to one of the funniest actors I’ve ever had the joy of working with.

He wrote: “Thinking a lot about Sam Lloyd today. (Ted). Truly such a kind, sweet guy. He will be missed by so many.”

Kate Micucci, who played Ted’s girlfriend Stephanie Gooch in the series, wrote: “So sad to hear the news about Sam. [He] was one of the warmest, funniest and most generous actors I’ve ever worked with.

“I loved getting to sing with him and it was an honour to play his girlfriend on Scrubs. He will be so missed.”

And Turk actor, Donald Faison, put: “Rest In Peace Sam. God bless your family. I’ll always treasure our time together singing, playing basketball, laughing, working and partying. You’re a true gem.”
