Little Mix's Leigh-Anne Pinnock believes she was 'overlooked due to her race'

Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock has opened up about the personal battles she has faced since becoming a member of the chart-topping group.

Despite being one of the biggest girl bands, alongside the likes of the Spice Girls and Girls Aloud, it appears that with success comes insecurities and scrutiny from the public.

Leigh-Anne, 28, has now opened up and revealed she felt “overlooked” in the quartet due to her race.

The Break Up Song songstress has opened up about feeling “invisible” during some of the darker moments of her life after first becoming famous.

During a chat with TV icons Richard and Judy on their Channel 4 show Keep Reading and Carry On, Leigh-Anne admitted she turned to a book to distract her from her negative thoughts on being the “darkest member of the group”.

Leigh-Anne, Richard and Judy were chatting about Rene Eddo-Lodge’s Why I’m No Longer Talking To White People About Race.

The novel is a non-fiction piece with Edo dissecting the problems surrounding race, racism and white privilege in Britain.

Leigh-Anne believes that the piece of literature helped her through dark times as she was able to relate to it.
