Here are a few of the best events happening on Wednesday and how to tune in (all times are Eastern).
A Moment of Calm with Jewel
9 p.m. on Zoom
With gyms, yoga studios and religious centers largely closed in the country, peace and relief from stress may be hard to find. The singer-songwriter and author Jewel will join Joanna Nikas, a writer and editor at The New York Times, for a discussion about how to care for yourself during this difficult time. While she is best known for her pop hits, she is also dedicated to promoting mental health awareness. Throughout her career, she’s been candid about the personal struggles that she’s faced and the benefits she’s experienced from practicing mindfulness meditation. As part of the free event, she will perform “Grateful,” a song she released in April, and lead the virtual audience in a guided meditation.
When: 9 p.m.
Where: R.S.V.P. here.

The Homebound Project
7 p.m. on Vimeo
For the first installment of this online theater series, 10 playwrights, including Sarah Ruhl, Rajiv Joseph, and Lucy Thurber, were given a simple prompt: “home.” Inspiration probably wasn’t hard to come by. Like many of us, writers have been largely confined indoors for the past few months. The actors who performed and recorded the short, new pieces (each is two to five minutes long) from their homes also probably didn’t have to stretch themselves too far to engage with material about domestic life. Amanda Seyfried, Marin Ireland, Jessica Hecht and Christopher Abbott are among the performers who have lent their acting skills to the initiative, which will benefit No Kid Hungry, a national campaign dedicated to ending child hunger. Future editions will feature Mary-Louise Parker, Zachary Quinto and Hari Nef, as well as new work by the playwrights Anne Washburn and David Zheng.
When: 7 p.m. The first collection will stream through May 10 at 7 p.m. The second will debut on May 20.
Where: Tickets, at $10, are available through the Homebound Project website. Ticket holders will receive a passcode to access the collection on Vimeo.
HERE@HOME: ‘The Reception’
7 p.m. on Facebook
If you’re feeling nostalgic for festive social gatherings, tune in to this free broadcast of Sean Donovan and Sebastián Calderón Bentin’s surrealist dance theater piece from 2017 to remind yourself that they’re not always all they’re cracked up to be. The performers, Jane Comfort, Leslie Cuyjet, Hannah Heller, and Ishmael Houston-Jones, start off as typical partygoers. They listen to music, sip drinks and chat with one another. But something goes awry at this merry gathering and it quickly begins to unravel. The conversations take a dark turn and an alarming sound intercedes. Through a mix of written text, improvised dialogue and choreography the cast communicates its breakdown under the invisible weight of an uncanny and encroaching threat.
When: 7 p.m. The video will remain available until HERE reopens.
Where: The HERE Arts Center Facebook page.
Read By: Margaret Atwood
8 p.m. on the 92Y website
The prolific and acclaimed author Margaret Atwood will read selections from “The Tent,” her 2006 collection of modern fables, for this episode of the 92nd Street Y’s new literary podcast. Like her novels “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Oryx and Crake,” these short pieces, which include Atwood’s take on the “Chicken Little” folk tale, are highly imaginative and subtly incisive. Strung together, they’re also the perfect length for a comfortable evening’s listen.
When: 8 p.m.
Where: 92Y Online.
