Ricky Gervais has confirmed that there will be a third series of After Life thanks to its popularity on Netflix.
The comedian, who writes, directs and plays the lead in the show, confirmed the news on Twitter.
He wrote: “Because so many of you watched #AfterLife2 so quickly and made it Number 1 again, the nice people at Netflix have suggested that I get off my fat a*** and do another season.
“This is all your fault.”

Fans were clearly overjoyed with the news and quickly praised the funnyman for penning a show that has viewers laughing one minute and crying the next.
One wrote: “Please do. Sobbing then laughing can be so cathartic. Just gets better and better.”
“Amazing, congratulations to you and the whole cast and crew of that magic little show yours,” another remarked.

While a third added: “It’s an awesome series, Ricky, so it’s actually your fault. Stop being so good.”
It’s a break in the protocol for the 58-year-old having penned only two seasons of his previous hit shows including The Office, Extras and Derek.
The second series rejoins Tony as he tries to become a better pal to those close to him.
With friends dealing with their own frustrations, big problems loom as the local newspaper comes under threat and is due to fold.

Earlier this month, Ricky hinted at the possibility of a third instalment on an Instagram Livestream after he was inundated with fan comments about the second series.
He said: “I’d love to do a season three – I’ve got ideas for it. It looks like it’s going to go down a storm, so if this reaction carries on then yes.
“The better it goes down the worst it is for me, you can do something f***ing amazing, and everyone goes, “Oh god, it’s the best thing ever, 10/10.
“But if you do something else that is 9.5/10 people are like, “It’s f***ing awful, this is the worst show on television,” so that’s what goes through my mind.”
