Gemma Collins 'heartbroken' in lockdown after beloved pet cat Twinkle dies

TOWIE star Gemma Collins, has took to social media to share the sad news that her cat Twinkle had died.

The 39-year-old told her followers that she was “absolutely heartbroken” as she shared an array of snippets of her moggy.

Gemma told fans how she’d given Twinkle and warm and loving home for over two decades.

The Diva Forever star explained in the tribute post that she’d actually rescued her furry friend 22 years ago.

Sharing a picture of her beloved cat, curled up on blanket, she wrote: “I rescued her 22 years ago, she passed last night.

“I’m absolutely heartbroken. I love you Twinkle.”

Her message was particularly touching as Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You accompanied Gemma’s heartfelt posts.

She later shared a snippet of Twinkle enjoying lots of fuss and attention in the sunshine, as the Whitney ballad continued to play.

Back in 2013, Gemma’s pet had actually featured in her autobiography, Basically…My Life As A Real Essex Girl.

Explaining an average day in her own words, she said: “I got up, fed my cat Twinkle, a stray I had rescued.”

Gemma is a self confessed animal lover, often using her platform to promote animal welfare.

Earlier this year, she stripped off to her birthday suit and posed in a bath, in a bid to support PETA – People for Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Sharing a snippet of herself naked in the tub, with one arm and leg draped over the edge, she told fans: “I am absolutely distraught everyday by what I am seeing on social platforms about how animals are being treated.

Gemma said: “When we’re looking at all these cutesy video’s of whales jumping, dolphins and sea lions performing tricks, that is not normal.”

“When people say oh ‘my god why had this whale killed one of our trainers’, it’s because it was animal taken from it’s mother in the wild, all to live in a bath tub.”

She went on to urge fans to follow her campaign, promoting for animals in captivity to be “free”.
