Eamonn Holmes suffers This Morning blunder as his brother interrupts show

This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes was baffled to receive a call from his brother live on air during today’s show.

The 60-year-old TV star was even more astonished at the fact his sibling didn’t know he presented the ITV daytime show on Fridays.

Eamonn told ITV viewers this morning: “It’s amazing what happens. I’ve just had a phone call from my brother who, after 15 years of me doing this show, has no idea that I’m on the telly on Friday.

“He called me up to talk football. I said: ‘That’s fine Conor, that’s very good, but I’ve got to get on and talk about VE Day and the celebrations and that sort of thing.'”

Eamonn’s wife and co-star Ruth Langsford added wive a wave: “Morning Conor.”

The TV star has been presenting This Morning on Friday’s alongside Ruth since 2006, with the pair regularly giving in for main hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

Eamonn is one of five brothers – Conor, Brian, Leonard and Colm – and has previously described them as his “best friends”.

He has often paid tribute to his siblings, telling the Guardian they grew up in a “Coronation Street” type community in Belfast.

Dad of four Eamonn explained: “My brothers and I are very close.

“Growing up, the lack of space meant we were like bear cubs or dogs that were always biting and nipping at each other, but not now.

“Today they are my best friends and that’s the same for all of us; we love each other’s company, we love being with each other, we indulge heavily in, what they call in Belfast, the banter or the craic.”

This Morning paid a sweet tribute to VE Day during Fridays show with a change to their iconic theme tune.

Instead of the usual music, the show had a live band playing to introduce the programme.

Eamonn was left even more confused today as he asked his co-stars Alice Beer and Phil Vickery why they weren’t being very chatty with him on the show.

As he spoke to Alice Beer via a video link, Eamonn told her off by saying: “You’re not being very chatty today,” and the same thing happened with Phil in his kitchen as he pointed out the chef was also not talking very much.

However, it seems that the awkward encounters were all down to the live link delays, as Alice and Phil did their segments with no further problems.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
