Piers Morgan Good Morning Britain sacking petition hits 50,000 signatures

A petition which is calling for Piers Morgan to be sacked has been signed by 50,000 people.

The petition on the change.org website describes Morgan as one of the “UK’s most heinous public figures”.

It argues that by keeping the controversial presenter in his job “ITV are actively choosing to promote an insidious agenda against transgender people and minorities”.

It also claims that through his choice of language he regularly berates and mocks those who do not identify in a way he is willing to comprehend.

The petition was set up by set up by Liam Austen and is addressed to Dame Carolyn McCall, Chief Executive of ITV, and editor of Good Morning Britain, Neil Thompson.

Austin claims on the website that Morgan is a hated figure due to mistakes he alleges he has made during his career.

The presenter and ITV have been approached by Daily Star Online for comment.

Fans rushed to Twitter to share their views along with sharing the petition, one wrote: “Surely he’s on how way out now?”

A second said: “Bye Piers,” followed by the laughing emoji.

The TV regular saw red after being accused splashing the cash to boost his online profile.

Anonymous Journalist on Twitter who boasts 12,000 followers shared a thread with their followers about Piers’ alleged fake bot followers.

Their initial tweet read: “The results are in with regards to @piersmorgan’s fake/bot followers.

Quote tweeting the post to his own 7.5 million followers, Piers raged: “I don’t know who you are, but this is an absolute lie.

“I have never bought a single Twitter follower, and wouldn’t know how.

“So I strongly suggest you delete this defamatory thread before I take further action. cc @TwitterUK @Twitter.”
