John David Washington’s character struggles to comprehend his mission and skills which involve time manipulation, while Robert Pattinson’s alter ego wants to crash a plane.

AceShowbiz – Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” has unleashed a new trailer for fans’ viewing pleasure. With theaters still closed amid the coronavirus lockdown, the video was unveiled through Fortnite, before it’s made available on YouTube.

In “Inception” and “Interstellar” style, the upcoming film is a sciene-fiction pic with a mind-bending twist. The main protagonist, played by John David Washington, has to pass a test that many others have failed. “That test you passed?” Martin Donovan‘s character says to him early in the video. “Not everybody goes. Welcome to the afterlife.”

Washington’s mission is to stop World War III through something called “inversion.” He seems to still struggle to comprehend his skills and at one point is seen being surprised when he literally catches the bullet instead of shooting it.

The word “tenet” is a password that ensures people take him seriously and Robert Pattinson‘s character, who looks like a swagger, somehow joins him in some of his actions. In one scene, he sees bullet holes in glass but says that the shooting hasn’t happened yet.

The next scenes are even more action-packed and intense, with Washington and Pattinson running through the audience in a big conference room as the latter says that they need to save them. Interestingly, the audience seem to be not moving a.k.a. in pause mode.

Later toward the end of the video, Pattinson shares his crazy plan to crash a big plane.

Like many of Nolan’s films, little is known about the plot, but the official description of the movie reads, “Armed with only one word-Tenet-and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time.” It adds, “Not time travel. Inversion.”

The cast also includes Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson (a.k.a. Aaron Johnson), Clemence Poesy, Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh. Nolan wrote in addition to directing the film, as well as producing it along with his wife Emma Thomas. Thomas Hayslip served as executive producer.

“Tenet” is still scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 17, but the new trailer fails to list an opening date at the end of it, simply saying, “coming to theaters” instead. There’s a big chance that the movie’s release is postponed, or it will go straight on streaming service.
