Steve Coogan giving 1970s TV show The Persuaders Hollywood makeover

Steve Coogan is giving The ­Persuaders! a Hollywood remake, the Daily Star Sunday can reveal.

A film version of the 1970s telly smash is being masterminded by the I’m Alan Partridge star. He has signed up to play Lord Brett Sinclair, who was portrayed by Roger Moore in the original show.

Coogan will team up with writer Hart Hanson to pen the script. Producer Becky Clements said: “They’re a dream team.”

The comic has been trying to make a film version of the action comedy, which also starred Tony Curtis (inset with Moore), for 15 years.

A film industry source told us: “It is a project close to Steve’s heart and he is a huge fan of Roger Moore and The Persuaders!

“He has tried to get it off the ground before, but it got stuck in development hell.

“It has all the ingredients for being a huge success and is likely to be a
favourite with audiences.”

Car-mad Steve once owned a 1970 Aston Martin DBS V8 – just like the one Moore drove in the series. The film is being made by Tomorrow Studios.
