Catherine Tyldesley posts snap of her sobbing as she talks being in 'dark place'

Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has opened up about struggling in lockdown as she shared a picture of herself in tears

Catherine, 36, recently opened up about her secret heartbreak as she told her fans her mum had been rushed into intensive care with severe coronavirus symptoms.

Catherine shared the happy news that her mum has since been released, but now she has confessed to her followers that she had been heavily impacted by the incident.

Posting on Instagram, she wrote: “Lockdown has brought up many emotions for many people.

“Some days have been incredibly hard. Dark. Unworkable. When my mum was in ICU I could barely function.

“It seemed all I could do was cry. I couldn’t parent. My inner child simply craved my mums touch…

“Thus I felt shame/mum guilt for not being able to ‘mother’ my own son. I’m lucky- I have a brilliant hands- on husband who has been the greatest support to us.”

She added: “Some people don’t have anyone. I can’t bare to imagine that.

“Teamed with a huge change in my hormonal balance – last month was nothing short of horrendous.

“It’s massively important to me that we all #TALK . We must help each other.”

Catherine then revealed she is joining a mental health online panel to help support other people who may be going through the same struggles.

The mum-of-one has also launched a pub quiz in a bid to raise money for the NHS.

Earlier this month, she opened up about her mum’s ordeal, as she said: “The worry was like nothing I’ve ever known. I want to take this opportunity to express my never ending gratitude to our #NHS and to #SalfordRoyal Hospital.

“The doctors worked around the clock to treat my mum swiftly and keep her protected from#covid19 at all times.

“In the six days she spent in ICU she witnessed heartbreak and miracles. Each time I spoke to her describing the medical staff as ‘angels’. My mum has spent a week of her life with the greatest of heroes.”
