A number of celebrities, including Cardi B, Jameela Jamil, Demi Lovato, Halsey and Ciara have spoken out in anger after the death of George Floyd.
The Minneapolis resident died on Monday after a confrontation with police, with one officer kneeling on his neck leaving him unable to breathe.
Four police officers that were involved in the incident have since been fired.
The incident was recorded on camera and spread on social media, leading to outrage from members of the public and well known voices.
Bodak Yellow rapper Cardi B wrote on social media: “Enough is enough! What will it take? A civil war? A new president? Violent riots? It’s tired. I’m tired. The country is tired.
“You don’t put fear in people when you do this you just show how coward you are! And how America is really not the land of the free!”
Former Disney star Demi Lovato shared words which read: “I’m tired of typing rest in peace… I wish black men could live in peace.”
She wrote: “This is not okay. And it will not stop until everyone does their part. Especially white people. I said it recently and I’ll say it again, do not let your discomfort surrounding social issues prevent you from speaking up for those in danger.

“And reality is, until this stops completely the black community will continue to live in danger.
“Do your part, this involves you too.”
She finished: “George Floyd, I hope you rest in peace because it isn’t fair so many didn’t do their part to ensure you lived in peace.”
Brit actress Jameela Jamil lobbied for the officers to be “arrested and jailed with the other murderers in this world”.

Halsey tweeted: “Rest in power George Floyd. An unarmed black man who was murdered by a police officer on camera. This system is failing the people it should protect. Where is the accountability?”
The Real Housewives boss Andy Cohen shared a screenshot from the video of the incident and wrote: “Every American should be outraged at this.”
Ciara likened the case to the 2014 death of Eric Garner, who died in New York after a police officer choked him.

She wrote: “My heart can’t take it, seeing what’s happened to George Floyd. This is eerily similar to the death of Eric Garner. There has to be a stopping point in the process of arresting someone. It’s all senseless.”
How To Get Away With Murder actress Viola Davis shared an image of George, as well as the words he was recorded saying to the officer on his neck: “Please I can’t breathe. My stomach hurts. My neck hurts. Everything hurts. They’re going to kill me.”

Viola herself wrote: “This is what it means to be black in America. Tried. Convicted. Killed for being black. We are dictated by hundreds of years of policies that have restricted our very existence and still have to continue to face modern day lynchings.
“Here’s the thing… America will never be great until we can figure out a way for it to work for everybody!”
Rapper Diddy simply shared George’s name and a praying emoji, captioned with a broken heart emoji.
The four officers involved in the incident, which saw 46-year-old George die in a local hospital, were fired on Tuesday after public outrage.
George’s family attorney, Ben Crump, like Jameela Jamil, has also called for their arrests.
The officers have not yet been officially identified.
