Piers Morgan talks GMB exit – saying he wants to be the next James Bond

Piers Morgan has opened up about his plans for when he eventually leaves ITV’s Good Morning Britain.

The star has admitted he’d like to swap TV screens for the big screen to become none other than James Bond.

The comments come as Piers revealed he’s signed a contract that will keep him on Good Morning Britain alongside Susanna Reid until 2021.

However, after that – he joked he’d like to take on the role of OO7.

When talking about the end of his new contract, Piers joked: “Then? There’s going to be a new James Bond and we’ve had Pierce Brosnan, so why not Piers Morgan?

“I think it’s time for a slightly older, slightly silvery fox assassin.”

Piers’ new contract comes after the 55-year-old presenter received over 4,000 Ofcom complaints so far this year.

The star regularly hits back at his haters – telling viewers to “switch off” if they don’t like him.

Despite the complaints, Piers also has an army of fans, with many claiming GMB was ‘dull’ when he was missing from the ITV show this week.

Talking about his new contract Piers continued to tell The Sun’s TV Mag: “I’ve just signed a new contract up for GMB until the end of next year.

“I love working with Susanna and the team – we’re a Ying Yang that works.”

Piers also hit out at those who moan about his combative presenting style – with the star often engaging in fiery debates with guests – especially government ministers in recent weeks amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The host claims he “doesn’t care” about any backlash, and remained jubilant that Ofcom cleared him of all complaints.

He added: “If my style upsets people, don’t watch! Watch something else. Nobody’s forcing anyone to watch it.

“You’ve got a remote control in your hand, I really don’t understand what the problem is.”

Piers added: “I don’t care. I only care about Ofcom complaints if I genuinely feel that I have been at fault, then you know you’re a fool.

“Ofcom ruled very heavily in my favour, which confirmed my belief that I’m just doing my job. The job of broadcasters, particularly during a crisis like this, is to challenge and ask questions.

Piers said his “frustration and anger” comes out on-air when ministers “are completely incapable of answering even basic questions”.
