Former Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn has opened up about the harrowing reason behind her decision to start selling video messages to her fans.
The actress, who played Sinead Tinker in the long-running ITV soap for six years, was inspired by her heartbreaking exit storyline.
Katie won several awards for her portrayal of knicker factory worker Sinead’s battle with cervical cancer while she was pregnant and scenes took a tragic turn as the lovable character lost her life to the disease.
Katie is now spending time raising much-needed cash for Mummy’s Star, a charity, which supports women and families who are dealing with cancer in and around pregnancy.
The ITV star has signed up to Cameo, a video-sharing website to sell video greetings to her fan base.

In her welcome message on the site, Katie said: “Hi guys! My name is Katie McGlynn and I’m a actress.
“You probably recognise me from playing in Coronation Street playing Sinead Osborne or Jodie Scott Allen in Waterloo Road.
“I’m so excited to be joining Cameo – the reason that I’ve joined is to raise some funds for the charity Mummy’s Star.
“It’s a charity very close to my heart, so whether it be a birthday message or just a general shout out, or basically whatever you want, give us a shout and let’s raise some funds together!”
Mummy’s Star is the only dedicated charity in the UK and Ireland that support women and their families diagnosed with cancer in or around pregnancy.
Katie and her co-star Rob Mallard, who played Sinead’s husband Daniel, became patrons of the charity after working with them on the Corrie storyline.
Sinead left behind Daniel and their baby son Bertie in scenes which left fans in floods of tears.
Katie has had to put on hold plans for work after leaving Corrie, which included a possible role on a Netflix show.

The TV personality told the Star earlier this year: “It’s going to be an exciting year. I’ve already had so many wonderful auditions.
“One was for a big Netflix show, which would be an amazing opportunity. But I can’t say too much more.
“I’m also going to LA. I’ve never been before, but I can do a really good American accent.”
“And if doesn’t work out, then it doesn’t work out.”
Coronation Street continues on ITV tonight at 7.30pm
