Holly Willoughby horrified as she discovers hot tubs 'contain tablespoon of poo'

Holly Willoughby left jaws on the floor during Wednesday’s episode of This Morning after she shared a seriously disturbing fact about hot tubs and, as she put it, “poop”.

The ITV favourite and her co-host Phillip Schofield spoke to red carpet regular Lizzie Cundy and William Hanson during a debate about whether people should buy a hot tub during the coronavirus lockdown.

Lizzie said her piece from her hot tub in her back garden, slipping into a swimsuit for the televised debate.

But after Holly dropped her fun fact, she may have wished she wasn’t sitting in the warm waters.

That’s because Holly said: “I did a bit of research on goodhousekeeping.com and I found this from Charles Gerba PHD…

“He said the average bather has about a tenth of a gram of faeces in his gluteal fold, which is a nice way of saying butt crack.

“With five people, you have a tablespoon of poop in the hot tub.”

Lizzie quickly said: “I can safely say there’s none of that in my hot tub, Holly.”

A gobsmacked Phil wasn’t sure though, asking: “You can’t say it’s not in your butt crack though, can you?”

Soon enough, things started to get a little personal when William said that he remembered Lizzie had apparently told him that she sometimes urinates in the shower.

But Phil butted in: “Let’s clear up the facts here, you don’t wee in the hot tub!”

Holly and Phil went to point out that the hot tub industry has “many, many high tech” options available with self-cleaning features.

And Lizzie branded William the “fun police”, while he made it clear he would not be stepping in a “petri dish of filth”.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
