Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington celebrated her daughter Summer’s fifth birthday on Monday with her ex-husband Harry Needs and her current boyfriend Andrew Parsons.
Adlington invited her ex and his close friend Michael Gunning to isolate with her and Parsons so he can be close with his daughter during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The arrangement appears to be going well, with the pair sharing photos of Summer’s birthday celebrations on Instagram.
Alongside a photo of the three in the kitchen, Needs wrote: “Time truly flies when you’re this happy being your dad. I’m lucky to have such a funny, loving, smiley, caring, happy kid. Happy 5th Birthday Sushi Roll, i’ll never stop rolling over backwards for you.”
Adlington share her own snap on Instagram, writing: “Happy 5th birthday Summer!!! I’ve been saying for the past week… I can’t believe you’re going to be 5!!
“She’s grown up so much recently! She honestly makes me laugh and smile everyday. She’s full of joy, fun and cheekiness!”
Speaking to The Sun, a source said of Adlington and Needs’ decision to spend lockdown together: “Their arrangement is very amicable and they’re doing what’s best for Summer.

“They still get on really well despite their split, so why not? And Harry’s friend Michael is close with the others too.
“They’re all really enjoying each other’s company and, what with their shared interest in swimming, it was a no-brainer.”
Speaking to OK! magazine, Adlington revealed her daughter and boyfriend “really get on” and said she is “grateful” that she has been able to remain close with her ex.
“They really get on – it’s cute. Summer doesn’t really understand what husbands and boyfriends are but she says, ”Mummy and Andy kiss!'” she said.
“I’m so grateful that we’ve remained close; he’s a fantastic dad. I think the reason we get on so well is because Summer comes first for us. We always make time for each other and say let’s walk the dog or go to the zoo.
“Summer said to me the other day: ‘I miss you when I’m at Daddy’s, and I miss Daddy when I’m with you.’ She does understand now she’s older and says: ‘Mummy, we have to share our time.’”
