David Tennant's wife planned her funeral as she shares terrifying cancer battle

Georgia Tennant has opened up about her terrifying cancer experience, which saw her plan her own funeral.

The 35-year-old actress, who is married to Doctor Who star David Tennant, shared her heartbreaking story in a moving online blog post.

She said that when she discovered there was something wrong after her smear test, she began planning her funeral.

Georgia shared an Instagram post yesterday, during cervical screening awareness week, in a bid to share the importance of woman having smear tests.

The TV star shared a link to the blog post she wrote during her experience in 2018.

She posted a picture on her Instagram page, captioning the snap: “Here I am on 22nd February 2018. Although ’tis indeed a fetching look, if you’d like to learn more about why you should never miss a smear test please read the story attached in bio.”

Her blog post was called “Public Cervix Announcement” and was written at the time she received her results, but before she knew it was in fact cancer.

It read: “So those of you who know me, know I like to share but those of you who don’t, will know I like to keep things private. This particular private thing however, I feel must be shared.

“A few weeks ago I received an abnormal smear result. ‘Borderline changes’ to be exact. Before I’d made it up upstairs to tell my husband, I’d started planning my funeral. Having kids takes you to that place pretty quickly I find.”

Her blog post also included the fact she had a Colposcopy and a biopsy, before being told she didn’t have cancer initially.

She typed: “He takes the biopsy. Man that hurt! But I now realise I’m in a slightly different world. I can’t tell whether it’s this or the smarting cervix but I start to cry. ‘It’s not cancer’ he says. ‘But neither is it borderline’ Ok so it’s not cancer. That’s great! What everyone wants to hear, surely? So why am I crying?!”

Georgia finished the post, adding that her results revealed she did in fact have cancer, but they had removed it before it spread.

She added in an update two weeks after her original blog post: “The lovely doctor called yesterday. Results are back. It was cancer. They’ve got it all but it was cancer.”

Georgia continued: “Survived cancer without ever realising I had it. As you can tell I’m still processing this, it’s quite a thing to get your head round. The swirling storm cloud of ‘what ifs?’. I’m currently half terrified child, half superhero.”
