American rapper Tray Savage dead at 26 after being shot in the neck

Rapper Tray Savage has died at the age of 26 after reportedly being shot in the neck and shoulder.

The American musician was shot as he drove on the South Side of Chicago on Friday at 11am, reports TMZ.

Tray, who is a member of Chief Keef’s record label was driving in the Chatham neighbourhood when someone opened fire.

The Faces rapper was driving his car and collided with three parked cars when he was shot at, according to The Sun.

It has been alleged he was dropping off his girlfriend at the time he was struck with gunfire, reports Chicago Sun Times.

He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Canter where he was later pronounced dead.

Witnesses told the gossip site that they spotted a white SUV in the area at the time of the shooting.

It is understood that there are no suspects in custody yet, reports Mirror Online.

The Chiefin Keef hitmaker lived in the neighbourhood where the shooting occurred, the publication claimed.

Tray’s manager Idris Dykes told HollywoodLife: “Trey Savage was one of the early members of GBE and original members of Glo Gang.

“Great spirited and always looking for the positive outcome. Was in the process of creating a new album. He was a great brother to Keef and the rest of us and dedicated father to his kids and will truly be missed.”

A number of the star’s fans took to Twitter to share their sadness at the news.

One typed: “Damn RIP Tray Savage.”

Others added: “RIP TraySavage . Crazy” and “Glo In Peace Tray Savage.”

The rapper’s last post on Instagram was five-days-ago, he had also been vocal about the Black Lives Matter protests after the death of George Floyd.

In one post he wrote: “They treat us by color not by name I been living in Chicago my whole life it’s always been police brutality on African Americans I don’t condone this but they gotta hear us or feel some how some way…..”
