One Direction's Niall Horan 'left disappointed' with US reaction to album

One Direction singer Niall Horan has spoken of his disappointment after his sophomore album failed to top the chart in America like his debut record.

While his record Heartbreak Weather hit the top spot in the UK, the record peaked at number 4 in America.

The charting means that Niall’s former bandmate Harry Styles is the only member of One Direction to have two solo number one albums in the States.

Niall, 26, who features on Ashe’s new single Moral of the Story, said: “I would have liked it to be number one in America but it was number 1 here.

“It is a shame it was realised during this s***.

“It was a long time to spend on an album and then it to be released in this.

“I started the second week of October 2018, I was writing and then I finished it late 2019 – it took me a year all in.

“You can’t win every week.”

A source told Daily Star Online: “Niall was the dark horse of the band and has surprised everyone with how well his solo career has taken off, both in terms of record sales and sell out global tours.

“Flicker surpassed expectations and topped the Billboard 200 in America but missed out on number one here.

“In the flipside Heartbreak Weather gave him his first UK solo album number 1 but peaked at number 4 in the US.

“He loves the album and had worked really hard on it so naturally he wanted it to top the charts so he couldn’t help but be a little disappointed by the US peak.”

Despite his disappointment Niall is still out performing most of his 1D bandmates when it comes to the charts.

Louis Tomlinson’s debut album Walls peaked at number 4 in the UK when it was released in January and number 9 in the US.

Meanwhile, Liam Payne’s 2019 record LP1 peaked at number 17 in UK and number 111 in the US.
