Emma tragically passed away this week after battling cancer

“Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support, I ask for you to be sensitive and respect our families privacy at this time.

“I will tell Emma’s story but now is not the time.”

In December last year Slaves cancelled their UK tour due to Emma’s poor health to allow Laurie to spend time with her.

In a statement released at the tim, Laurie wrote: “Emma has been battling through immensely painful episodes every day for the past 3 months.

“We hoped this wasn’t a permanent issue and that her symptoms would subside, I thought we would be able to cope and I could get through this tour.

“However, this week her condition has rapidly deteriorated. At this point, Emma is in constant agony.”

Emma and Laurie shared two children together

Shortly after her death, Emma’s sister Amy took to her Facebook page to pen a long tribute.

Reflecting on her sister, Amy wrote: “I turn 30 this Sunday and although you are not here physically, I just know you are and will be by my side for the rest of my life – you have to be.

“I am so angry Boo. So angry that I am going into a new decade without you by my side, so angry that we aren’t able to raise our children side by side and had so little time as mothers together, so angry your Bhudda won’t remember his beautiful Auntie Em, so angry how fast this happened to you, I could go on and on … but I know better. I know you’d only tell me off for feeling that way.”

She added: “You truly believed that every thing is meant to happen just exactly the way it happens. Everyone keeps saying ‘your sister was so strong’ but in truth they have no idea really just how strong.

“You were so at peace with what was happening to you, didn’t let your babies see what they didn’t need to, coached us all in different ways throughout, wouldn’t let yourself be pitied or let us be sad around you and never once did you say ‘why me?’ – not even once.

“You didn’t realise you were even doing it but by watching you, you gave us all so much strength along the way, which we still carry with us now. Saying ‘I love you’ is just too small.

“You are my person, my soulmate. I was so lucky to have you by my side for 29 years and 361 days.”
