Meghan Markle's 'ultimate ambition' is to become president claims Lady C

Lady Colin Campbell believes Meghan Markle has spoken to her inner circle about her plans to run for President of the United States.

The 70-year-old appeared on today’s instalment of This Morning, discussing her new book, Meghan and Harry: The Real Story, which will be released later this week.

Speaking to hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield about the book, Lady C claimed Meghan, 38, has “ambitions” to become the president one day.

While Lady C acknowledged she hasn’t spoken to either Meghan or Prince Harry about the claim, the biographer explained that she has heard from “sources” about Meghan’s political aspirations.

She said: “I do not for one second buy that they have gone to Hollywood for privacy because they would have far more privacy had they remained in England.”

Holly replied: “You’ve gone further to say that she may be going to run for president at some point.”

Lady C claimed: “That’s what she told people. She told people her ultimate ambition is to run for president.

“She announced last week that she is going into politics, notwithstanding the fact that no member of the British Royal Family is allowed to enter politics.

“She has leaked to her friends and to her favourite journalists that she’s going into politics.

“She has confirmed what I said but I got it from somebody that she instructed.”

Lady C also claimed that Harry and Meghan’s relocation to The States has “impacted adversely on their credibility and their prestige”.

The outspoken star, who formerly appeared on I’m A Celeb, added that she hoped Meghan would return to royal duties in the future.

She said: “I wish them well, I hope that they will ultimately live up to their responsibilities.

“I hope that she will embrace the tremendous privilege and responsibility she has been given.”
