Cheryl 'snubbed by Strictly bosses' amid speculation over Bruno replacement

Bosses at Strictly Come Dancing have reportedly turned down Cheryl for a place on the prestigious judging panel for the upcoming series, after Bruno Tonioli gave his blessing to her.

The BBC dance competition is set to return to screens in October, with shorter running times and strict safety measures in place as the world continues to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the show is currently in turmoil as fan favourite judge Bruno, 64, is currently torn between Strictly and the US version, Dancing With The Stars, where he also sits on the judging panel.

Due to current travel legislation, those entering the UK are to isolate for 14 days, meaning it would be near impossible for Bruno to sit on both panels.

Bruno has been jetting between Los Angeles and London for the past 15 years, leaving the City of Angels on a Wednesday before returning on a Sunday.

Despite giving his blessing for former Girls Aloud singer, Cheryl, to take his seat on Strictly, it appears bosses are keen to keep the panel as it is.

Currently, Shirley Ballas sits as head judge with Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood seated alongside her.

A source told The Sun that Bruno will not be replaced for the upcoming series.

They claimed: “As things stand, Bruno won’t be replaced and they’ll switch to three judges.

“The BBC hopes the rules on flying will be relaxed by the autumn which means Bruno should be able to take part.”

Odds also suggest that the panel will remain as a three-piece, with Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes telling Daily Star Online: “It looks like Cheryl will get the nod should Strictly want to replace Bruno, but at the moment the odds suggest Beeb bosses may stick with just three judges instead.”

Daily Star Online has approached Strictly Come Dancing for comment.
