The Chase viewers were surprised to see a legendary singer appear on today’s show, as Gloria Gaynor made an unexpected appearance.
When all four contestants were introduced to the show, eagle-eyed fans realised the panel below each player featured the singer’s iconic name.
The first two players were named both “Gloria” and “Gaynor” – appearing as the songstress’ full name in the lit-up LED lettering.
Best known for her hit song “I Will Survive,” the 73-year-old songstress is one of the most beloved acts of the 70s disco era in the US.
Taking to Twitter, viewers expressed their surprise over the hilarious name repetition, as they wondered whether Gloria herself would appear on the show.
One said: “Gloria Gaynor on #TheChase, will she survive?”
A second added: “How has Bradley not noticed Gloria & Gaynor!”
“What is Gloria Gaynor doing on #thechase? Will she survive,” chimed a third.

While a fourth remarked: “I reckon seats one and two will get caught, but seats four and three, (Gloria, Gaynor) will survive.”
“The Dark Destroyer” Shaun Wallace was in the hot seat tonight, trying his best to take out the competition one contestant at a time.
The first three hopefuls – Louise, Michael and Gaynor – managed to make it through to the final round with money in the bank, much to their relief.
Gloria offered her teammates a helpful hint for securing success after her husband offered some advice ahead of her appearance on the show.
Her hubby Brian recommended choosing answer “A” in the second round, increasing an uncertain player’s odds of getting the right answer.
Host Bradley Walsh quipped: “In the words of her legendary quizzing husband Brian, if in doubt, go ‘A’.”
Gloria’s advice proved helpful – player Louise thanked her husband for his handy tip, as she chose to answer “A” to a tricky question, and made it into the finale.
The Chase airs on weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
