Actor Louis Mahoney has died aged 81, it has been confirmed.
A statement from the late star’s agent said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful client, Louis Mahoney.
“Louis paved the way for many actors who followed: a lifelong activist and champion of anti-racism. His warmth and good humour will be sorely missed.
“A celebration of his life will follow.”
During his long career, Louis appeared in some of the UK’s biggest shows including Doctor Who and Fawlty Towers.

Mahoney was born in The Gambia in 1938 before moving to the UK in 1957.
He originally hoped to pursue a career as a doctor and trained in medicine, however, he later moved to a career in acting.
Mahoney starred in one of Fawlty Towers’ most controversial episodes, called The Germans.

The episode was recently pulled from streaming services over fears it was offensive in the 21st Century before being reinstated.
During Doctor Who’s original run he appeared in a string of episodes as part of the serial Planet Of Evil, opposite Tom Baker as the titular Time Lord.
More recently Mahoney was seen in BBC daytime hospital drama Doctors.

Comedian turned actor and presenter Lenny Henry lead tributes to the late star.
Taking to Twitter, Henry wrote: “God bless Louis – we worked together on Delbert Wilkins shows in the late Eighties: he was very elegant, smoked roll ups and liked a glass of wine.
“He always wanted to rehearse to get things just so.
“He was a calm presence on set and worked hard. Louis was a real gent. R.I.P.”
