Nickelodeon star cries after face mask gets stuck to ear in piercing gone wrong

A Nickelodeon teen actor has been left in tears after her face mask “got pierced through” her ear during a piercing gone wrong.

Sissy Sheridan, 16, who appears in the channel’s web series DIY with Me, said she couldn’t take off the face mask after visiting a Claire’s store in Sterling, Virginia, to have a third ear piercing on both ears.

In a distressing TikTok video, Sissy cries hysterically in her car as she tells her 3 million fans that the lady at the store pierced her ear to her mask.

She is seen wearing two face masks – a black and a blue surgical mask – and the loop appears to have got stuck behind her left ear.

Sissy says: “It hurt so bad, I hate you Claire’s. Look at it, the white one, it’s stuck on my ear.

“And they are so ugly, I just want to take them out.”

She told Buzzfeed she didn’t even know that the strap of the mask has got stuck while she was being pierced.

“I had no idea,” she said. “I’m just sitting in the chair. I didn’t feel anything. There was no sign the mask had been punctured in the ear.”

The footage, however, didn’t show how exactly the face mask became stuck or if it got pierced through the hole.

Sissy had to wear the mask home where her mother Leisa helped her cut most of it free by folding her ears forward.

Leisa also claimed they have sent a photo to the manager of Icing at the Claire’s store in the hope of a refund and was told they could get the money back if they return the earrings.

In a separate video, Sissy explained that her mum helped her to remove most of the face mask from inside her ear.

She said: “Basically the mask is gone out of my ear, but there’s still a piece of the plastic string stuck in my ear. When it got pierced it got pierced inside my ear.

“My ears are too sore and sensitive right now, because they just got a hole pierced through them, to take the earring out. And also if I take the earring out it could close up.

“Sorry for being dramatic but I had no idea what to do and it really hurt so that was my reaction.”

A spokesperson for Claire’s told MailOnline: “Over 40 years, Claire’s has pierced more than 100 million ears. Customer well-being is always our main priority.

“We are investigating this incident and are taking appropriate corrective action. We have reached out to the customer offering support and a full refund, and have updated our ear piercing training guidelines to incorporate mask wearing.”
