Doctor Alex George has opened up about the horrifying experience which almost cost him his life.
The Love Island star, 30, took to his official YouTube channel where he revealed all about his “frightening” ordeal.
He later went on to add that he “owes his life” to the NHS medical staff at St Thomas’ Hospital.
Alex, who has continued to work on the NHS frontline throughout the coronavirus pandemic admitted that during the scary time, he wasn’t sure if he would pull through.
Speaking candidly in his video the medic added that he hasn’t previously spoken about his ordeal but felt he needed to address the issue as well as the symptoms.

Alex’s battle with sepsis also played a part in his bid to apply for a place on Love Island.
His scary ordeal took place three years ago in 2017 after not feeling right shortly after cycling into work.
As well as experiencing fatigue, Alex was also running a temperature and made the decision to return home.

He later discovered his heart rate was unusually high and made the decision to head into the hospital.
Alex was later rushed through to the resuscitation department for urgent blood tests.
“It was very scary, but I was rushed through into a cubicle where I was seen immediately by one of the senior doctors there,” he recalled.

He was then treated with a wide variety of antibiotics in a bid to discover the cause of the infection.
Alex added: “I think what really scared me at the time was A, I was alone, B, how quickly it happened and also the fact that it took me a long while to respond.”
He eventually spent several days in hospital before making a full recovery over one month later.
Speaking about his thoughts while battling the infection, he said: “It made me feel a real sense of mortality and it made me think, ‘you know Alex you’ve got one shot on this earth, you need to do it properly, do your best, take every opportunity’.”
In the description of his video, he listed the symptoms of sepsis which include: slurred speech, shivering, not urinating, breathlessness and discoloured skin.
