Kate Garraway has taken to Instagram to thank her fans for their continued love and support after her husband Derek Draper opened his eyes from his coma.
The 53-year-old recently said that while her husband opening his eyes was an incredible moment, she and her family still have an uphill battle ahead.
Taking to social media today, she thanked her 896,000 followers while adding that she didn’t expect Derek to come home any time soon, despite recent progress.
The Good Morning Britain host showed admirable strength and courage as she urged her fans to “keep the hope alive and keep moving forwards”.

Kate’s husband Derek recently gave a flicker of hope that his condition might have turned a corner when his eyes opened after a lengthy medically induced coma.
For many weeks now, the TV personality’s husband’s condition has seen little improvement, with Kate’s family often on tenterhooks as to whether Derek would ever pull through.
In that time, Kate has been greeted by an overwhelmingly large amount of public support, with fans eager to see Derek return to his feet.
The inspirational star took to her social platform to provide an update following her recent emotional and heartfelt interview with Hello magazine.
She wrote: “Thank you so much to Hello mag for helping me to bring you some of my hopes and plans for the future.
“The future we are really hoping for, Derek recovering and coming home is not nearly in sight and very uncertain.

“But it feels positive to share how we are trying to keep ourselves going as I know so many are dealing with terrible challenges in all sorts of ways as we all try to emerge from these ghastly times, just as we continue to hope Derek can emerge from his minimum state of consciousness.”
Aiming to help others who may be going through similar situations during this unprecedented time, Kate tried to provide some form of light for her followers.

She continued: “I hope reading this helps in some way. Thank you everyone for your lovely good wishes and for sending me your stories of how you’ve been coping too.
“I hope that some of the Hello mag piece brings some comfort – we’re all in this together.
