Kate Garraway confessed she asked Piers Morgan for help on today’s Good Morning Britain, as she struggled to process her husband’s health condition.
The GMB star’s husband, Derek Draper, contracted coronavirus in March, with the virus wreaking havoc on his internal organs.
Discussing the heartbreaking experience with hosts Piers and Susanna Reid, the 53-year-old recalled one moment of struggle, in which she was driven to pick up the phone.
Telling Piers she was “losing it” over the phone, she remembered saying: “You’re going to have to give me a massive pep talk.”
Laughing, Kate added that Piers was “almost telling me off” as he lectured her about staying strong throughout Derek’s battle with Covid.

He said: “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
Quoting Nelson Mandela, he added: “Where there’s life there’s hope.”
At one point in the interview, Piers found his phone and started scrolling through his messages from Derek, dating back to last winter.

Referring to Kate’s time on I’m A Celeb, he said: “This is when you were in the jungle and Derek and I were chatting.”
Piers read out the text from Derek, which said: “Thanks, Piers. She’s an amazing woman, I so, so much want her to be the number one for once.”
Reflecting on his first meeting with Derek, Piers said: “We would lock horns quite a lot.”

After Derek left the world of politics, having worked as a lobbyist for the Labour Party, Piers recalled: “He went through a real sort of life change and he became a very different person.”
Gesturing to Kate, Susanna chimed: “I think he credits you with a lot of that change.”
Nodding her head, Kate added: “I think having a happy family life made him a lot happier.”
