Kate Garraway says Elton John & David Beckham have reached out to her over Derek

TV presenter Kate Garraway returned to the Good Morning Britain studio on Wednesday to give an update on her husband Derek Draper’s battle after contracting coronavirus.

The 53-year-old broadcaster told co-stars Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid that it has been 100 days since Derek 52, was rushed to hospital after contracting Covid-19.

Kate announced this morning that she will be returning to Good Morning Britain on Monday alongside Ben Shephard.

As well as opening up about how her and her children have been coping with Derek’s condition, Kate revealed that a host of famous faces have offered their support over the past three months – including Elton John, David Beckham and Amanda Holden.

The former I’m A Celeb campmate said: “Everyone has been so generous and we are overwhelmed by the amount of message we have received from people.”

During the emotional interview, Piers quickly pointed out that Susanna’s pal Judge Robert Rinder had been in touch to offer his support.

Kate said: Rob [Rinder] has been fantastic.

Piers wondered: “Whats in his food parcel?”

Kate replied: “I love Rob. He texted me saying ‘I live near to you, what can I do’?

“Darcy was making a photo wall at the time so I asked him for blue tack.

“I’ve had so many messages and lovely things. David Beckham sent video clips for the children on social media.

She added: “Elton John contacted me. He got in touch. He said he’s on board and know about virus prevention so he offered to help.

“I was so desperate at this point because It was hard to communicate with the hospital.”

“After I was like ‘It’s Elton John’.”

Kate also went on to reveal that Britain’s Got Talent star Amanda Holden had sent her message and quickly apologised as she was yet to reply to her text.

Kate also thanked her her GMB co-stars for their kind gifts for her children Darcy and Billy, including a Lego set from Susanna and a doughnut maker from weather presenter Laura Tobin.

It was also revealed during the chat that Kate had been in touch with Piers throughout the “tough time”.
