Ben Shephard shares Kate Garraway's hilarious request amid GMB return

Good Morning Britain star Ben Shephard has revealed that co-star Kate Garraway has asked him to be rude to her when she returns to the show next week.

The 45-year-old presenter was back on our screens this morning alongside co-anchor Ranvir Singh.

Ben and Ranvir discussed their pal Kate’s emotional television interview with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on the ITV breakfast show yesterday.

Speaking about Kate today, Ben said: “It was really great to see Kate in the studio smiling, talking very honestly about the situation Derek is in.

“He continues to be critical, although he is out of the coma and they can FaceTime, it’s not simple.

“She did have a really, really lovely announcement for all of us.”

A clip of a smiling Kate announcing that she would be returning to host the ITV breakfast show on Monday alongside Ben then played.

Ranvir said: “I don’t know how she does it.

“And hasn’t she been through enough without having to sit next to you?”

Ben explained: “She did say brilliantly that she wants me to be rude to her. I am warming up, I am very, very prepared.”

The cheeky presenter went on to discuss his friend’s “important” return to the GMB studio.

He said: “It’s a big step, a really important step as she was talking about yesterday, openly, particularly for her and for Darcey and Billy and Derek’s ongoing condition.

“And I think the other thing that was really key from Kate’s perspective yesterday was that there are families who are going through similar things up and down the country and her thoughts and concerns are with them as well.”

Kate spoke to Piers and Susanna on Tuesday as she returned to the studio or the first time since husband Derek Draper was rushed to hospital in March after contracting coronavirus.

Former lobbyist Derek was later put into an induced coma, which he has recently come round from.

However, former I’m a Celebrity campmate Kate warned her husband still has a long road to recovery.
