Glee's Lea Michele pays poignant tribute to late Naya Rivera and Cory Monteith

Glee star Lea Michele has paid tribute to her former TV co-stars Naya Rivera and Cory Monteith in a touching online post.

On Tuesday, Naya’s body was recovered from Lake Piru in California after a she went missing during a boating trip with her four-year-old son Josey.

Naya, 33, was found and her death confirmed exactly seven years to the day that Monteith died.

Monteith died on July 13, 2013 from an overdose of heroin and alcohol.

Taking to Instagram, Lea, 33, updated her Instagram story with a series of black and white pictures of Naya and Cory.

In one black and white image, Cory could be seen in a suit and tie standing on a New York bridge with a bunch of flowers.

A second image, also in black and white showed Naya seemingly backstage in hair and make-up.

Naya was recovered from Lake Piru after a six day search.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the tragic news – insisting they found no evidence to suspect suicide.

Describing her final moments, Ventura County official, Sheriff Bill Ayub, said: “It would be speculation to say at this point there are a lot of currents in the lake that appear particularly in the afternoon.

“We believe it was mid-afternoon when she disappeared, the idea perhaps being that the boat started drifting. It was unanchored.

“She mustered enough energy to get her son back on the boat but not enough energy to save herself.”

The Sheriff’s Department official added: “We know from speaking with her son that he and Naya swam in the lake at some point in the day.

“He told investigators that he looked back and saw her disappear under the surface of the water.”
