Season two of Derry Girls has been removed from Netflix, just four days after it was first added to the streaming service.
The show follows five teenagers attending a Catholic school during The Troubles, bringing a welcome dose of comedy to the turbulent political history of 90s Northern Ireland.
Starring Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, Saoirse Monica Jackson, Nicola Coughlan, Louisa Harland and Dylan Llewellyn, the series has proven a huge success in Ireland, the UK and beyond.
On July 9, the streaming giant added the second instalment of the cult Channel 4 comedy series to the platform, much to viewers’ delight.

Celebrating the show’s arrival, Netflix said: “Derry Girls S2 is now on Netflix if you were looking for an excuse to watch it again.”
However, just four days later, viewers were disappointed to realise the show had inexplicably been removed from the site.
Taking to Twitter, viewers fumed about the unexpected axing, with many pointing out they were halfway through the series when they realised it had been taken down.
One said: “Utterly bizarre that season two of Derry Girls has disappeared off Netflix. I know Netflix regularly removes and renews content [but] it usually leaves it up a bit longer than 4 DAYS!!!”
“In the middle of watching #DerryGirls season two on @netflix and it just disappeared,” added a second.
And a third fumed: “Can someone PLEASE TELL ME why derry girls season 2 has been REMOVED from Netflix while I was in the middle of an episode a few hours ago!!!!!!!!!”

While a fourth relieved fan wrote: “#Netflix taking down series 2 of #DerryGirls I guess its a good thing I binged both seasons yesterday.”
Netflix later took to social media to explain the show’s disappearance, assuring fans they could catch up using Channel 4’s streaming service, All 4.
They said: “UPDATE: it looks like we were a bit early with this one so have had to take season two down for now.
“We’ll let you know when it’s coming back as soon as we can. In the meantime, it’s available now on All 4.”
Daily Star Online has contacted Netflix for comment.
