Coronation Street star Shelley King admitted she was “exhausted” by Yasmeen and Geoff’s horrific abuse storyline as she appeared on ITV’s Lorraine today.
Yasmeen is currently awaiting trial after evil Geoff – who was abusing Yasmeen – claimed she was the one abusing him after she hit him with a glass bottle to defend herself.
Host Lorraine Kelly remarked to Shelley that she must be “exhausted” as she appeared on the show today.
Shelley replied: “We are. Fans may see a scene which only appears three or four minutes long, but the stabbing scene took us two days to do.”

She added: “You really have to concentrate and not just me and Ian
“The cameramen do too and the people who do the props.
“We all have to be on the ball and in the moment.”
Shelley praised the Corrie team for handling the storyline ‘with care’, however.

She did admit partner Trilby James has found it hard to watch her Yasmeen and Geoff scenes though.
Shelley said: “It’s not easy to witness. The way it’s scripted, shot and presented makes it feel so real.”
Talking about Trilby, Shelley added: “She’s been helping me, she hears my stories about the people we met (who suffered abuse).
“All of it brings it into focus.”
It was revealed this week that the show’s original climax for Yasmeen and her attempted murder trial were very different – but had to be scrapped.
Due to the coronavirus lockdown, television was forced to stop production which means Corrie’s planned storylines had to be altered or pushed back.
Soap boss Iain MacLeod explained that the annual week of explosive episodes during the Britain’s Got Talent finale saw a huge storyline come to a climax, but they have had to change it.
Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 9am. Coronation Street returns to the channel tonight at 7:30pm
