Yesterday, The Chase viewers were furious as a player made an unusual mistake on the ITV quiz show.

In the rare television moment, Ernie made an error by failing to press the answer butting in time.

He, therefore, forfeited his point for that question – despite the fact he knew the correct answer.

The question was: “In the United States, what is measured by Nielsen ratings?”

After failing to press his button in time, host Bradley Walsh asked Ernie what answer he was going to put.

Ernie revealed it was “TV audiences” which was right, but due to his failure to press the button, Ernie didn’t get a point.

Fans rushed to Twitter, raging about the unusual mishap.

One said: “Idiot! Press a button – ANY button!”
