Louise Redknapp opens up on 'hard' moment with ex Jamie before marriage split

Louise Redknapp has opened up about her marriage to ex-husband Jamie Redknapp, recalling a “pretty hard” moment as she watched her spouse enjoy his career.

The singer, 45, and the former footballer, 47, who share two children together, parted ways after nearly two decades of marriage in 2017.

Louise stepped back from the limelight to raise a family, and she previously admitted that her stint on 2016’s Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with Kevin Clifton, put the “fire back in her belly”.

However, she has since discussed her husband’s burgeoning career in entertainment, admitting it was hard to see him in her “world”.

She said: “Standing by and watching Jamie become this entertainment star was pretty hard.

“I was proud of him, but there was part of me thinking, ‘That’s my world’.

“I could see the excitement he got out of it and I knew how that felt. But it wasn’t me feeling it anymore.”

In the resurfaced interview with the Sunday Telegraph from 2017, the singer said she had “spent most of my life pleasing everyone else” and said she “lost” herself.

She made her comeback by starring in West End musical 9-to-5 along with releasing her fourth studio album, Heavy Love, in January of this year.

The high-personal songs documents heartbreak along with her own journey into singledom.

Speaking about her album and her own journey to Glamour magazine, she explained: “I think now I’m totally okay to back myself against even if no one else does.

“I think that has come with age, heartbreak and dealing with having really nasty things said about you, on a really big scale.

She added: “There were positive words too, though but it’s hard not to focus on the negative.
