The Chase viewers rejoice as 'gorgeous' student unexpectedly turns on The Beast

The Chase returned to our screens this afternoon for the latest throwback instalment of the popular ITV quiz show.

Host Bradley Walsh welcomed a team of four contestants to the show this afternoon.

The cheeky chappy presenter was eager to see them get through to the final with some money in-hand.

Mark “The Beast” Labbett was in the hot seat on Friday trying to prevent the hopefuls from going home with the cash prize.

Mary, Scarlett, Terry and Eddie all took it in turns to take on the cash builder and later went head-to-head with The Beast in an intense round of general knowledge questions.

Mary was the first contestant to take on the tough ITV quiz but failed to make it through to the final show.

Russian student Scarlett, 20, was the second to play this evening.

ITV viewers rushed to their keyboards to gush over the contestant’s looks and intelligence.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Scarlett is giving all the fellas watching the fever.”

A third viewer said: “Scarlett is a wee cutie.”

While a fourth said: “Scarlett. Marry me.”

As if fans weren’t impressed with the her looks alone, Scarlett gained even more praise for her witty comeback to The Beast, when he began rambling on about his love for the Carry On movies.

The Beast gushed about a famous Kenneth Williams line in Carry On Screaming, which had been the answer to the previous question, Scarlett said: “I’m sure it was funny at the time.”

Scarlett’s quick remark left Bradley, 60, in hysterics, and he gave the student a high five.

Fans were cracking up as they discussed Scarlett’s comeback on the micro-blogging site.

One fan tweeted: “I’ll give her that, cracking comeback. Didn’t expect that.”

Scarlett made it through to the final chase and put £5,000 in the prize fund.
