Dr Alex George devastated as little brother dies amid mental health battle

Dr Alex George has been left heartbroken after the sudden death of his little brother.

The A&E doctor, who starred on Love Island 2018, posted a lengthy statement on his Instagram and said the family are “devastated” following Llŷr’s passing.

He penned: “I can’t believe I am actually writing this post. I have lost my beautiful little brother to mental health. I love you so much Llŷr.

“The kindest and most caring soul. I was so proud of you starting medical school next month, you would have been the most incredible doctor.

“We are hurting so bad. No words can explain.”

He concluded: “As a family we are devastated. We love you and miss you so much. Please rest in peace x Our boy.”

Since his post, the 30-year-old has received an outpouring of support from social media users and Love Island co-stars.

Rosie Williams, who starred on the ITV show alongside Alex, wrote: “Oh no Alex! This is so awful. I’m so so sorry from the bottom of my heart.”

She added: “Sending you all the love in the world. Thinking of you and your family through this terrible time.”

“So, so sorry mate. Here if you need anything. Devastating,” Alex’s Love Island pal Charlie Brake penned.

And This Morning star and former Gladiator Dr Zoe Williams wrote: “So very sorry for you and your family. Sending love and strength.”

Dr Alex has been fighting the coronavirus outbreak on the frontline in his job as an A&E doctor.

Earlier this month, Alex was left heartbroken when he confirmed lockdown has driven apart his relationship with girlfriend Amelia Bath.

Taking to his Instagram story, he confirmed the split and said the pair will remain friends.
