Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway revealed she was rushing home to check on her ill husband Derek Draper when disaster struck.
Kate’s tyre on her car exploded as she drove down the motorway, causing her to nearly lose control of the car as she headed to her home in London.
She added her husband were visiting him for the first since his coronavirus battle, and she had wanted to get home to get Darcey, 14, and Billy, 11, ready.
Kate told Ben Shephard: “I’ve never had it before, it’s the sort of thing you actually dread, it was the first time I had actually been out with my kids in my car leaving London.

“It was the first time that I had been out with the kids in the car, leaving London, going to meet some friends in Kent, in a socially distanced way.
“We were rushing back because we were conscious of getting back to London to check on Derek, and my mum and dad were coming for their first visit.
“”On the way back, it suddenly exploded.”

Ben asked: “Could you squeeze any more drama into your life please?”
Kate replied: “You know people say God and the universe doesn’t send you what you can’t deal with.
“I would like to put a message out, I am at my limit, I am at my absolute limit now.

“If the universe could just give me a calm Monday!”
Kate gave more details about the near miss car crash on the motorway, as she said: “I had that moment when you suddenly think, ‘I can’t control the car’.
“All weird steering, smoke and bits of rubber flying everywhere.
“I don’t know if it was smoke but it looked like smoke, it could have been burning rubber.
“I managed to pull over, but the section of the motorway we were on, there wasn’t a hard shoulder, and there was feeder road going off, so I was nervous about people coming up on the inside.
“So I called the AA and the drama unfolded, that’s when you feel a bit panicky, because you’re in live traffic.”
GMB continues tomorrow at 6am on ITV.
