BBC Breakfast's Dan Walker says Harry Redknapp is 'dead to him' in tense clash

BBC Breakfast ‘s Dan Walker briefly locked horns with Harry Redknapp on today’s show, as he joked the footie icon was “dead” to him.

Harry, 73, came on the show to discuss his experience of the lockdown, chatting with hosts Dan and Louise Minchin via video chat.

When the conversation turned to the relaxation of lockdown measures, the I’m A Celeb champion confessed he had plans to travel to Cornwall for a holiday down south.

Dan immediately had a burning question for Harry, raising the subject of Cornish afternoon tea with a serious look on his face.

He asked: “Harry before we let you go, the big question when you go to Cornwall when you have your scone, is it jam first or cream first for you?”

Harry replied: “Cream first. I don’t know if that’s the correct way of doing it.”

The scone topping appeared to offend Dan, who exclaimed: “Redknapp, you’re dead to me, goodbye.”

After a tense moment, he started to laugh, as Louise saved the day by adding: “Not to me, forever a legend.”

Dan then tried to ease any awkwardness in the studio, by closing the interview with: “Lovely to speak to you Harry, thank you very much.”

The BBC star made headlines earlier in this year after his feud with GMB’s Piers Morgan appeared to reach new heights.

It all kicked off on July 1 when Dan let his fans know he would be interviewing Business Minister Alok Sharma later in the show.

Taking a swipe, Piers replied over Twitter, saying: “Sharma… This will be fun.

“You warm him up with your Govt-approved soft b***s Daniel & we’ll follow up on @GMB with the real questions.”

Dan held his own, hitting back: “You keep up your pound shop political Gogglebox and try not to let all those toys fall out of the pram at once.

“See you nice and early.”

Will the warring TV presenters ever surrender their feud and make peace?

BBC Breakfast airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV.
