Ant and Dec leave fans gutted as they announce social media break

Ant and Dec have left fans gutted after quitting social media.

The Britain’s Got Talent and Saturday Night Takeaway stars took to Twitter to confirm their digital break – insisting they will be back in the Autumn.

Posting to their 6.7 million followers, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly wrote: “We’re both taking a break for a few weeks to spend time with family and friends.

“Wishing everyone a great month and we’ll see you at the end of August.”

Alongside the message was a snap of the lads sat with their feet up reading holiday brochures.

Within minutes the post was met with a flurry of replies from gutted supporters.

One fan wrote: Miss you both already but hope you both have a lovely time love you!”

Another added: “Have a nice well deserved rest.”

“Enjoy this private time. You deserve it.”

However, while many followers were supportive of the decision others were left baffled.

One fan wrote: “Taking a break for a few weeks… I thought that’s what you have been doing since I’ve not seen you since you were presenting from your living room.”

Another added: “A break from what exactly. Love them but what have they been doing for months.”

A third continued: “How come? Where have you been these last three months?”

Meanwhile, a fourth replied: “A break from what exactly?”

Ant, 44, is currently dating personal assistant Anne-Marie Corbett following his divorce from Lisa Armstrong after 12 years of marriage.

The pair were spotted at Heathrow this weekend heading off on holiday.

Meanwhile Dec, also 44, is married to wife Ali Astall, with the couple welcoming daughter Isla a year ago.

Earlier this week ITV confirmed that I’m A Celeb 2020 will take place after fears it could be axed due to Covid-19.

Reports had previously revealed how show bosses had considered hosting the show in Scotland to avoid any potential travel ban.

Instead it will now take place in Australia as usual though campmates will have to self isolate for weeks before the show kicks off.
