GMB's Ben Shephard to make 'Coronation Street cameo' next week in romance plot

Ben Shephard is going to make a special ‘cameo’ appearance on Coronation Street next week.

It was revealed on Good Morning Britain today that the 45-year-old television presenter will feature in a romance storyline in upcoming episodes of the ITV soap.

Patti Clare, who has played Mary Taylor on Corrie since 2009, revealed that her character has a crush on the Tipping Point star.

An exclusive clip showed that Mary orders herself a blanket covered with Ben’s face.

Patti said: “In Mary’s world, being embraced by Ben is her idea of heaven Patti.”

Ben was stunned as he wasn’t aware he would appear on the soap.

The red-faced host said: “I didn’t know, I’m a bit lost for words…”

He became flustered, which prompted his co-star Kate Garraway to tease him.

She joked: “You’re slightly stumbling your words!”

Ben gushed: “That’s made my year, I’m honoured and flattered.”

He then said he wished he could meet Patti in person, and expressed how he’d love to visit Corrie after lockdown.
