This Morning chaos over Eamonn and Ruth 'earthquake' interview blunder

This Morning fans were baffled while watching today’s show, as a segment on “staycations” took a disruptive turn.

Hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford interviewed a shop owner from Newquay, Cornwall, about the floods of tourists visiting the seaside town.

Named Tristan, he revealed the rising numbers of visitors was becoming too overwhelming for locals, as he urged travellers to be more respectful.

He urged: “Be respectful to your environment and the people who live here.”

However, watching from home, viewers were left distracted by the cameraman, as the footage of Tristan shook from side to side throughout the segment.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wondered whether Newquay was in the midst of an earthquake, while another speculated about the presence of a nearby helicopter.

One wrote: “Who was holding Tristan’s camera?…….a helicopter!”

“Didn’t know they had earthquakes in Newquay… keep the bloomin’ camera still,” exclaimed a second.

And a third wondered: “Why is the camera shaking like that?”

Later, the interview took another wacky turn, as the cameraman could be heard whispering the word “testing” to the interviewee.

One baffled viewer exclaimed: “Did someone just whisper ‘testing’.”

“Who is that whispering to Tristan? If you didn’t think he was up to the interview you should have done it instead of being the prompt,” agreed a second.

And a third chimed: “Someone whispering ‘testing’ to him there…”

Finally, the interview was then interrupted by a number of birds, who began twittering loudly in the background of the chaotic clip.

Eamonn couldn’t help but pass comment on the loud birds, as he compared the interview to the legendary horror film The Birds.

He said: “Now where Tristan is is like an Alfred Hitchcock film.”

This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV
