Daisy Coleman, who appeared in the Netflix documentary Audrie and Daisy, has died at the age of 23, her mother has confirmed.
Her mum Melinda Coleman said that her daughter Daisy took her own life on Tuesday night, according to TMZ.
Daisy’s body was found after Melinda asked police to perform a welfare check.
Melinda said: “She was my best friend and an amazing daughter. I think she had to make it seem like I could live without her. I can’t. I wish I could have taken the pain from her!”
Daisy rose to prominence in 2016 after taking part in the Netflix documentary Audrie and Daisy, which covered alleged rape cases.

It told the story of how, in January 2012 when Daisy was just 14 years old, she was allegedly raped at a house party after being plied with alcohol.
Nobody was ever convicted.
In the documentary, viewers watched how Daisy and her family and friends dealt with the aftermath, which included being rejected by their local community.
Melinda said that Daisy “never recovered” from what had happened.

She said: “She never recovered from what those boys did to her and it’s just not fair. My baby girl is gone.”
The Coleman family was hit by tragedy last year too when Daisy’s younger brother died in a car accident.
The documentary also dealt with the sexual assault case of Audrie Pott in September 2012.
Audrie tragically took her own life 10 days later.
After her rape case, Daisy co-founded SafeBAE, an organisation with the mission of ending sexual assault among middle and high school students, as well as helping survivors.
SafeBAE has said that they are devastated by Daisy’s death and have “suffered an irreplaceable loss”.
